Position
Supervisor, Logistics, Edmonton.
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Supply Chain Superintendent, this position will be based in Edmonton, AB.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with suppliers, warehouses, shipping companies, and the Site Supply chain to ensure timely and efficient delivery of materials to consolidation locations and the Goose Mine site;
- Supervise the receipt of products at the consolidated warehouse and coordinate their efficient delivery to the site, ensuring inspection and quality control at transit points, and communicating any damages to end users immediately;
- Prioritize and expedite critical shipments based on site requirements and ensure communication of delivery schedule;
- Oversee the shipment of partial or complete purchase orders according to end user requirements and track and update shipment statuses, communicating any delays or discrepancies promptly;
- Liaise with customs brokers, freight carriers, and procurement teams to resolve documentation and customs clearance issues. Prepare and manage customs documentation, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws for import and export;
- Ensure the security and safety of all cargo during transportation;
- Manage the creation and maintenance of logistics documents, such as packing lists, commercial invoices, manifests, and material receipts. Maintain daily records of incoming and outgoing shipments and import/export operations;
- Review and approve freight invoices for accurate cost monitoring, continually review freight costs and transportation rates to minimize expenses, and ensure the best rates for shipments;
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key shipping companies, suppliers, and freight forwarders. Identify and source new freight forwarders, evaluate their performance using KPIs, and recommend corrective actions as needed; and
- Streamline shipping and transportation processes, collect and analyze data to create regular and ad-hoc reports, help establish department goals and policies, monitor existing logistics systems, and suggest improvements.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
- Seven (7) years’ experience in shipping, receiving, expediting, warehouse operations, and import/export operations including three (3) years in a supervisory position;
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field;
- Professional certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS CSCP, ISM CPSM) is an asset;
- Understanding of customs regulations and documentation requirements for import and export; and
- Proficiency in using SAP and ERP software; strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
