Position
Superintendent, Maintenance- MLA, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans to optimize equipment reliability, availability, and performance while minimizing downtime and costs;
- Manage the maintenance of a diverse range of mining equipment, including heavy machinery, processing plants, and support infrastructure;
- Assist the maintenance manager develop and manage MLA maintenance budgets, monitor expenses, and implement cost-effective strategies to maximize efficiency and productivity;
- Identify, source and issue purchase request mechanical parts and components required for maintenance activities;
- Develop long range detailed plans, schedules, and procedures for the systematic preventative maintenance of all equipment;
- Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor maintenance performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive operational excellence;
- Provide training and development opportunities for maintenance staff to enhance their skills, knowledge, and effectiveness in performing their roles; and
- Lead initiatives to identify and implement opportunities for process optimization, technology adoption, and efficiency gains across the maintenance function.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
- Seven (7) years experience in maintenance of mining heavy equipment with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role;
- A Red Seal interprovincial trade certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician (HET), or an equivalent Nunavut Blue Seal designation, supplemented with managerial, business and financial course work;
- A Nunavut WSCC Supervisory Level II qualifications, or ability to obtain same; and
- Previous experience working in a remote mine site in Arctic conditions is required.
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the annual salary for the role is $200,000.00 plus 15% Bonus.
