Position
Underground (UG) Electrician, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Superintendent, Underground, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
- The overall inspection, repair, and maintenance of electrical components for mine equipment in compliance with regulations and B2Gold Nunavut’s safety policies and procedures;
- Install and maintain underground substations and pump stations;
- Diagnose areas of improvement and/or repair as necessary;
- Read, understand, and interpret prints;
- Collaborate with site teams to identify operational requirements and improvements of the project;
- Test and troubleshoot electrical, control, and automation systems;
- Assist in the design, testing, and start-up of instrumentation and control systems;
- Update and aid in the setup of the Electrical and Control schematics; and
- Participate in safety toolbox talks to promote compliance with B2Gold Nunavut’s safety policies and procedures.
Desired Competencies and Requirements
- Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician ticket with prior experience in industrial electrical repair and maintenance in the construction and/or mining industry;
- Familiarity with reading electrical schematics and prints required, with preference given to those with working knowledge of the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment in mining operations;
- Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and industry best practices; and
- Experience working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources is considered an asset.
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the estimated annual earning is $149,513 (combined regular hourly rate of $54.25 and overtime rate of $81.38).
