Position

 

Operator, Fuel and Lube Truck, Nunavut

 

Location and Reporting Structure

 

Reporting to Supervisor, Maintenance, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Day to day activities include performing routine fueling and lubrication tasks for company vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery according to established schedules, ensuring proper product and quantity delivery;
  • Conduct daily inspections of the fuel and lube truck, including fluid levels, tire pressure, brakes, lights, and other essential components;
  • Ensure fuel and lube service schedules are completed, logged, and reported as needed;
  • Aid in light daily maintenance of equipment as required. Report deficiencies in site operating equipment to supervisor;
  • Complete a daily inspection of all assigned equipment;
  • Maintain fuel and Lube stocking levels and report deficiencies to supervisor as required;
  • Be prepared to respond effectively to emergency situations, such as spills or leaks, following established protocols to minimize environmental impact and ensure worker safety;
  • Follow and promote B2Gold Nunavut’s safety policies and procedures. Partake in daily toolbox talks; and
  • Support the maintenance team with other duties as required.

 

Desired Competencies and Requirements 

 

  • One (1) year of experience in a Fuel truck position in a remote camp environment, with preference given to those with mining experience;
  • Ability to operate 18 speed manual transmission vehicles required;
  • capability to work outside in extreme environmental conditions, including exposure to extreme cold (-70 C), wet conditions in winter, contrasted with high heat and humidity (30+C) in summer;
  • Completion of primary school, High school diploma is preferred; and
  • Ability to comprehend, read, write, and converse in functional English to ensure safe working conditions on site.

 

 

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $103,350.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $37.50 and overtime rate of $56.25) in a work year.
