Position

 

SAP Material Master Data Specialist, Edmonton

 

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Manager Supply Chain, this position is based in Edmonton, Canada.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Create, update, and maintain material master records in accordance with established standards and procedures. This includes entering data such as material descriptions, specifications, classifications, and other relevant information into the system; Create new items as requested from authorized stakeholders in a timely manner. Verify requested items using the manufacturer's/supplier's online catalog/website, manuals before registering in the ERP system;
  • Promptly update material records in SAP based on engineering change notifications, including marking obsolete/discontinued items and configuring material determination settings as needed;
  • Work closely with stakeholders across different departments to standardize material naming conventions, classifications, and attributes. Ensure consistency and uniformity in material master data across board;
  • Maintain detailed records of changes and updates made to the product catalog, ensuring version control and easy accessibility;
  • Perform regular audits and checks to verify the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of material master data. Identify and rectify any discrepancies or errors to ensure data integrity;
  • Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to obtain accurate and timely information regarding materials, parts, and equipment. Establish effective communication channels to facilitate data exchange and resolve any issues or discrepancies; and
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of material master data standards, procedures, and governance policies. Generate reports and metrics to track key performance indicators related to data quality and integrity.

 

Desired Competencies and Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, or a related field;
  • Three (3) years’ experience working with catalogs or product management, SAP master data creation and maintenance;
  • In-depth knowledge of SAP modules (e.g., SAP ERP, SAP S/4HANA, SAP CRM, etc.);
  • Project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, priorities, and deliverables; and
  • Certification such as SAP Certified Application Associate, is considered an asset.
