Position

 

Superintendent, Site Services, Nunavut

 

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Assistant General Manager & Site Services Manager, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Plan, organize and direct daily operations such as air strip maintenance, aircraft ground support, fresh water supply, fuel systems, signage, cleaning, waste management, maintenance, parking, safety inspections, security and snow removal;
  • Aid in the management of personnel, work allocation, training, problem resolution and employee performance to achieve peak productivity;
  • Report any adverse incidents to the Assistant General Manager & Site Services Manager. Engage employees and address poor performance as required;
  • Promote compliance with and adherence to SOPs, company policies, objectives, and goals;
  • Participate in and conduct daily safety briefings to deliver key messages to the onsite team;
  • Prepare reports and statistics related to areas of responsibility;
  • Be knowledgeable and conduct business within the parameters of the Support Services budget;
  • Be a key leader in training standards and identify needs of team members and provide input to the Managers; and
  • Acts as a liaison with other departments to ensure operations are running appropriately and efficiently.

 

Desired Competencies and Requirements

 

  • Ten (10) years of experience in a remote industry setting working in logistics, camp or facility management; Five (5) years of supervisory experience oversee and directing the work of staff;
  • Experience with SAP and maintenance practices related to facility management in a remote mine environment;
  • Post-secondary degree in Business Management, logistics or building operator certificate or related trade designation;
  • Knowledge of heating, electrical generation and distribution, structures, plumbing and environment control systems in a remote camp setting is required; ability to operate light industrial equipment, such as skid steers, forklifts and the like, considered an asset;
  • Experience working with Indigenous groups in a professional capacity considered an asset; and
  • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems such as Site Docs.

 

Compensation and Benefits

  For informational purposes, the annual salary for the role is $170,000.00 plus a 15% Bonus.
