Position
Environmental Coordinator, Nunavut
Location and Reporting Structure
Reporting to the Manager, Environment or Designate, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the implementation of environmental monitoring (as required by permits and authorizations) and baseline programs required for the environmental assessment and permitting process;
- Conducts environmental site assessments for remediation's planning, construction monitoring, erosion, and sediment control;
- Supervises investigations of incidents involving environmental contamination and drafts detailed reports intended for internal stakeholders and external regulators as required by law;
- Collects and analyzes soils, tundra, waste pit and groundwater samples required for drafting technical reports;
- Assist with development and implementation of an environmental management system and ensure adherence to the system;
- Utilizes knowledge of remediation and environmental principles to advise site management in the proper execution of project deliverables and tasks whilst adhering to environmental best practices;
- Conducts environmental monitoring according to B2Gold Nunavut’s policies; and
- Assists with preparation of additional permits and approvals, or amendments as required.
Competencies and Requirements
- Five (5) years’ experience post-qualification in plumbing , with preference given to those with experience working on a remote site with limited access to resources;
- Journeyperson Certified Plumber (Red Seal), General Gas Fitter License, or related trade training;
- Fall Arrest, Confined Space, and Elevated Work Platform ticket are an asset; and
- Valid driver’s license.
Compensation and Benefits
For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $112,996.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $41.00 and overtime rate of $61.50) in a work year.
