About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Day Supports Manager, the Burnaby Day Supports Team Lead will provide support to the Day Supports Manager in all aspects of team leadership and location support. This role will work closely with the individuals and teams to provide an environment that is focused on working with individuals to meet their desired goals, live a full and meaningful life and to live as independently as possible. Acting as a day to day contact, problem solver, and coach for a team of Community Living Counsellors, you will role-model Person Centered Active Support.


General Duties:

  • Provide support (including personal care) and engage individuals to live as full citizens
  • Supporting the Day Supports Manager with some administrative and financial tasks
  • Encouraging and motivating a team of Counsellors
  • Supporting individuals with various life goals
  • Community outings (including, but not limited to volunteering, paid employment and leisure activities)
  • Maintaining records of daily activities and goal progression
  • Coaching, role-modeling and mentoring the team in appropriate support techniques 
  • May require some travel between locations within a defined region


About You

Your experience in providing positive, consistent and empowering support to adults with developmental disabilities coupled with your resourceful approach and natural leadership style will enable you to flourish in this role. You are known for supporting individuals in achieving their chosen goals and experiencing success in their lives by providing skills and opportunities to develop and build their social / friend network, participate in their community, take part in local activities, obtain volunteer or paid employment and learn skills associated with daily living.

You will be an exemplary role-model of Person Centered Active Support to employees, families and the wider community, through all your interactions with the individuals you support. You possess the following skills or meet the following requirements:



  • Class 5 driver’s license
  • Access to a reliable vehicle
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Clear criminal record (paid by CLS)
  • Clean driver’s abstract
  • Previous leadership and supervisory experience
  • Strong computer and administrative skills
  • Experience and comfort with assistive technology
  • Significant knowledge and demonstrated excellence in Person Centered Active Supports concepts and approaches



  • Counselling and coaching skills
  • Crisis prevention and intervention skills
  • Special skills: medical training, ASL
  • Health care and mental health knowledge
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
  • Mandt System®

Hours: Based on a 30 hour work week – schedule to be determined with the Manager. Generally, the schedule will be based on an administrative schedule and would be consistent, but flexible (Monday to Friday – 9:00 am to 5:00 pm or 8:30 am to 4:30 pm)

Wage:  Starting at $21.75 per hour
