The Motorpoint Arena Nottingham is the biggest entertainment venue in the East Midlands. Showcasing the biggest names in music, comedy, and sport and with a seating capacity of up to 10,000, we are one of the most versatile entertainment venues in the UK.

 

The National Ice Centre (NIC) sits within the same complex. Made famous by Olympic legends and Dancing on Ice stars, Torvill & Dean, the National Ice Centre is Nottingham’s hub for all things ice skating and ice hockey.   We are the home of the Nottingham Panthers Ice Hockey team and host around 30 games a year.

 

2025 is a bumper year for our venue with us welcoming Peter Kay, Kylie, Strictly Come Dancing, Craig David, Mo Gilligan, Olly Murs, Diana Ross and the 50th Anniversary Tour of Torvill & Dean to name a few. 

 

Reporting to the IT Operations & Security Manager the Apprentice IT Solutions Engineer will join our IT team as part of a Level 3 IT Solutions Technician Programme in partnership with Althaus Digital.

 

This is a fantastic opportunity to start your career in IT by learning on the job and supporting our end users.  The Apprentice IT Solutions Engineer will work with a wide range of technologies whilst being mentored by a highly skilled and supportive IT team.  Gaining hands on experience in everything from user support and hardware setup to cloud systems and IT operations, allowing the Apprentice IT Solutions to become a key part of our internal support capability.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Provide 1st-line support for hardware, software, and basic networking issues

 

Log and manage IT tickets, escalating issues where appropriate

 

Set up and configure laptops, desktops, mobile phones, and other devices

 

Assist with user onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, equipment deployment, and documentation

 

Support with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint)

 

Help maintain IT asset records and perform equipment audits

 

Support AV and meeting room setups for internal meetings or events

 

Assist with basic troubleshooting of connectivity issues, printers, and peripherals

 

Shadow and assist the Field Engineer or Senior Engineers during site visits

 

Contribute to IT documentation and internal knowledge base

 

 

Training & Support

You’ll be enrolled in the Level 3 IT Solutions Technician apprenticeship delivered by Althaus Digital, combining on-the-job training with structured learning modules and regular mentorship.

The expected duration of the apprenticeship is 12–18 months, with the opportunity to progress into a permanent IT role upon successful completion.

 

 

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will be passionate about technology and eager to learn.  They will have strong communication and problem-solving skills with a pro-active, can-do, attitude and a willingness to take on new challenges.

 

In addition, they will be able to follow processes, stay organised and ask questions when unsure.

 

Flexibility is key due to the needs of our business, you may on occasion need to work late nights, weekends or bank holidays if IT support is required for an event.
